Home Remedies for Bad Breath
September 23, 2016 11:22 amEveryone has worried about bad breath at some point. Whether it’s right after your morning coffee, or a meal seasoned with garlic or just a general sense that your breath isn’t as fresh as it could be we all need a few quick options to freshen things up a bit. Here are some easy home remedies for bad breath.
1. Drink water
Drinking more water in general increases salivary flow which can help dilute odor. For a quick fix, taking a sip of water, swishing it around your mouth, and discreetly spitting it out can help wash out anything that may be causing the odor.
2. Eat an apple
Apples are fiber rich, require a lot of chewing to consume, and that action will help clean the teeth. As an added bonus, the vitamin c helps to kill bacteria.
3. Chew sugarless gum
Chewing sugarless gum will help clean the teeth of anything that may be lingering from meals and snacks. Since a dry mouth is also prone to odor, chewing will help to maintain moisture.
4. Tongue scraping
It sounds scary, but it’s not! The tongue can be a breeding ground for bacteria, which will cause odor. Tongue scrapers, which can be found in most drug stores, gently remove the bacteria from the tongue.
5. Choose your mouthwash wisely
Mouthwashes with a high alcohol content can cause drying which increases your risk of bad breath. Look for an alcohol free mouthwash that has menthol, eucalyptol or thymol.
6. Talk to your dentist
