Saving Water While Brushing Teeth
March 28, 2018 2:44 pmYou’d be surprised at how much water you use when brushing your teeth. Turning on the sink to brush two minutes twice per day can make a dent in your overall water usage, but it doesn’t have to be that way! Follow these 4 simple tips to conserve water while you brush your teeth to help the environment and your wallet at the same time.
1. Don’t Let the Water Run
There’s no need to keep the water running continuously while brushing your teeth if you aren’t going to use it! You just need enough water to wet your toothbrush’s bristles quickly at the beginning and to rinse when you’re done. Make it a habit to shut the water off as you when you’re doing the actual brushing bit.2. Rinse With a Cup
Designate a reusable cup as your rinsing cup instead of cupping water in your hands or using your brush to guide water into your mouth while it runs to rinse it. When you do the latter, all of that running water is going to waste!3. Limit Your Faucet Water Pressure
Intense water pressure isn’t necessary when it comes to brushing your teeth. Check your faucet’s water pressure to make sure you aren’t wasting too much. It’s amazing how reducing just a little pressure can make a major impact on your water bill.4. Use Cold Water
Using cold water conserves more energy, and you don’t have to wait for your water to warm up before you use it. It doesn’t take that much water to brush your teeth, so dealing with a colder water temperature should be manageable to carry out this basic task. With these simple changes, you can save water without having to sacrifice your oral health. We hope these tips help you brush without having to feel bad about your environmental impact!
